Dear Students and Families of West Oak Middle School,
Welcome to May. We had an amazing week with our Band/Choir performances, the SMILE Dentists stopping by, and our Day of the Child event! Below are a number of important informational pieces for your review. Please reach out to our Main Office if you have any questions and have a great weekend!
8th Grade Save the Dates: Here are the following events coming up for our 8th grade students. (English/Spanish)
8th Grade Dance: We are in need of volunteers to help with our 8th grade dance on May 21st. Please complete the following Form if you are willing to help and let Mr. Pedersen know if you have any questions. [email protected]
8th Grade Outing: Our 8th graders will be enjoying an afternoon of fun and relaxation at Cynthia Peterson Park from 1-3:00pm on May 22nd. Students will then be bussed back to the school so they can get a ride home for that day.
8th grade Graduation: With our 8th Grade Promotion coming soon, please indicate how you would like your child's name to appear on their diploma and how you would like them to be called as their name is announced at the ceremony by completing this Form. Also, due to graduation being held in the West Oak Middle School Main Gym, each student will receive 5 tickets to attend the event. These tickets and gowns will be given to students on May 21st. Please reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.

SAVE THE DATE: Our BIG McDonalds dine out night is coming up on May 15th. You will see some of your favorite D76 staff helping out! Come out and join us!!
Encore Selections: In an effort to provide choice within our students’ schedules, students and families are able to select their Encore class preferences for the upcoming school year. All incoming 7th grade students (currently in 6th grade) are asked to complete this form indicating which classes they would like to take next year. All incoming 8th grade students (currently in 7th grade) will complete this form. Let the Main Office know if you have any questions.
Fun Finder: If you are looking for things to do throughout the summer, please review this flyer as the Mundelein Parks and Recs have a number of fun filled activities planned.
Junior Police Academy: The Mundelein Police Department will hold their Jr. Police Academy during the week of June 3rd this summer. The program will run from 8:30-11:30 am each day at the Mundelein Police Department. A maximum of 50 participants will be admitted for this free academy and last year it filled up very quickly. Attached here is the letter and waiver form and to sign up. Please reach out to Officer Sexton, [email protected], for more information.
Summer Band: WOMS is planning for our summer band camp and would love to see as many students as possible attend this enrichment opportunity! Here is the link to the registrar and attached at the bottom of this email is a PDF of the information (dates, times, location, etc.) that also has a link to the registration form. Please let Jessica Rosales, [email protected], know if you have any questions.The $75.00 registration fee can be turned into the office or given to Mrs. Rosales or Mrs. Hagen by Friday, May 3rd.
Community Needs: D76 is proud to have a Community Liaison on our staff, whose primary goals are to strengthen the home/school partnership and to provide needed educational wellness, resources and support to students and families. 8vo grado Guarde las fechas: Aquí están los siguientes eventos para nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado. (Inglés/Español)
Danza de octavo grado:Necesitamos voluntarios para ayudar con nuestro baile de octavo grado el 21 de mayo. Por favor complete el siguiente formulario si está dispuesto a ayudar y avise al Sr. Pedersen si tiene alguna pregunta [email protected]
Salida de octavo grado: Nuestros alumnos de 8º grado disfrutarán de una tarde de diversión y relajación en el parque Cynthia Peterson de 1 a 3:00 p. m. el 22 de mayo. Luego, los estudiantes serán transportados en autobús de regreso a la escuela para que puedan llevarlos a casa ese día.
Graduación de 8º grado: Con nuestra promoción de 8º grado próximamente, indique cómo le gustaría que aparezca el nombre de su hijo en su diploma y cómo le gustaría que lo llamen cuando se anuncie su nombre en la ceremonia completando este formulario. Además, debido a que la graduación se llevará a cabo en el gimnasio principal de West Oak Middle School, cada estudiante recibirá 5 boletos para asistir al evento. Selecciones adicionales: En un esfuerzo por brindar opciones dentro de los horarios de nuestros estudiantes, los estudiantes y las familias pueden seleccionar sus preferencias de clases Encore para el próximo año escolar. Banda de Verano: ¡WOMS está planeando nuestro campamento de banda de verano y le encantaría ver que tantos estudiantes como sea posible asistan a esta oportunidad de enriquecimiento!Aquí es el enlace al registrador y al final de este correo electrónico se adjunta un PDF con la información (fechas, horas, ubicación, etc.) que también tiene un enlace al formulario de registro.
